The LiveHouse sponsored by Virgin Mobile was the most intimate venue we experienced at SXSW. It is a house that is scheduled each day with the up-and-coming artists from various talent agencies around the country. The stage is counter top in the fucking kitchen. It’s amazing because it feels like you are at the sickest house party ever, with open bar and a constant stream of awesome DJs and other acts playing.
Nervo was the first act I saw perform from the DJ booth behind the kitchen counter. These girls are not only talented, but pretty hot as well. They played for 45 minutes or so to a crowd of like 20 people, which is kind of funny considering I watched them perform a day later to a crowd of a few thousand people at a packed club. This was the cool part about this party, everything was just so nonchalant while awesome acts were performing right in front of you.
After Nervo was Hoodie Allen. He put on a pretty good performance and really got the crowd into it, for the 30 of us that were there, it was a pretty killer set, especially for a white rapper. He was jumping up on the counter top and in the crowd and put a lot of heart and sweat into the performance.
